Study on Thermal Design of 15W-class LED Fog lamps for vehicles

The LED light source with low power and high luminous efficiency has been used in the automotive industry. In this study, a 15W LED fog lamp with better visibility and low price was developed using the SMD type LED modules. To this end, the thermal performance of the fog lamp was optimized by adjusting the number of heat sink fins, heat pipes and the emissivity of the heatsink. As a result, the thermal performance of the LED fog lamp was secured for the consumption power of 15 W and the ambient temperature of 40 °C.
